A Personalized Father’s Day Gift Idea

Fathers Day Photo Book Gift Idea

Before we know it it’ll be Father’s Day and instead of letting it sneak up on you this year, I’ve teamed up with Snapfish to bring you the cutest gift idea perfect for your husband or your own dad. I always feel like Father’s Day is harder to do last minute because unlike Mother’s Day where you always have flowers to fall back on, Father’s Day can be a bit harder to shop for. Creating a personalized gift with a little thought behind it is always a winner, and I’m sharing how I did just that below.

Now I don’t know about you, but I have accumulated so sooo many photos over the years, from my phone to my cameras… it’s actually overwhelming. The worst part is that I had yet to sit down and make any albums from all these digitally captured moments. Making a Snapfish photo book was long overdue and the perfect chance to gift something to my husband that my son could be part of. I went with the faux leather bound book that goes really well with our coffee table books and chose the studio style layout which features one photo per page. Having a lot of white space was important to me because from the get-go I wanted to hand write in the dates and locations of the photos. Another thing I did was make sure the last page was blank and asked Adoni to fill in the statement “I love my dad because…”. His answers were so adorable and since this whole book was inspired by his and his dad’s “song” they sing about being best friends forever, it was very fitting. It’s seriously the cutest thing, so now they have a book to remember it.

The hardest part of this for me was narrowing down which photos I wanted to use, if you also have thousands of photos to sort through I organized the process like this: first, focus on my son and husbands photos from age 1-4 and pick out highlight moments from those years. This included trips we took, “first times” doing things and everyday moments like walks at the park from different seasons, it all made for a really sweet compilation. Also, you could certainly choose to include a lot more photos if you don’t want as much white space. You could also type in whatever wording you’d like so it would be printed ready to go. I personally like to choose the “place for me” option as a time saver so I don’t have to place where everything goes manually.

Another personalized items that I loved making was the photo greeting card. We visited Disney World this year so I picked two of our favorite photos from there (I didn’t include too many Disney photos because I want to make an entire album of that trip). This is just another great way to use and print out from our stock of digital photos we take, and this actually cost even less then buying a card at the store. The card I chose was only $2.75 and included two photo inserts whereas I typically spend $4.99 at the store when I pick one up.

We wrapped our book up with brown kraft paper and some gingham ribbon, Adoni is so excited to give this to his dad and even told him he has a surprise for him but that he hid it!

Thank you to Snapfish for sponsoring this post, and as a thank you to readers use the code GIFT4DAD for 40% off your Father’s Day projects (good until 6/30/2018). If you decide not to make a photo book, some of my other favorite uses for photos and ideas for gifts on Snapfish are the glass prints, mugs, acrylic blocks and the puzzles!
