When I was little my mom would french braid my hair; that’s how I learned to braid. I remember being in 3rd grade and french braiding my hair and a classmate couldn’t believe I just did it without looking. I always tell people it looks a lot harder than it actually is, once your hands know what to do it can even be easier to do without looking.

Dutch and Fishtail Side Braid

I’ve done this style braid for a while now and it always gets compliments. It’s a dutch braid that turns into a side fishtail. You start off with a dutch braid on one side a bit above your ear, and continue it around the back of your head until it reaches the other side where there is still hair left. This is where you start the fishtail.

Combine all the hair (including the braid you already have, don’t braid that one anymore at this point). Divide you hair into 2 sections and begin your fishtail. Make sure you’re making each braid tight. When you are finished secure with an elastic, now it’s time to loosen the braid. Pull pieces out starting at the bottom and making your way up, you’ll probably have to do this a few times, this will make the braid look fuller!

Side Braid - Zoë with Love

By the way, see that necklace I’m wearing? It’s from my Rocksbox, a $19 monthly jewelry service that sends you 3 handpicked designer items which you have the option of buying at a discount rate. You keep the pieces on loan until you are ready to send them back (shipping is always free!) at which time you will get 3 new pieces!

Sounds awesome, right? I love that I don’t have to commit to buying new jewelry when I get bored with my existing pieces, especially since I was not wanting to buy anything new. This necklace was in my Rocksbox wish-list and the stylist chose 2 pieces to compliment it. Who doesn’t love getting fun packages like this? I think the surprise of what you’ll get is the funnest part.

And guess what?! You can try this service FREE for your first month with this code: zoewithloveblogxoxo

Remember you can cancel at anytime, so you might as well try one set for free! zoewithlove_signature

Zoe you look beautiful and what a gorgeous braid. I wish my hair wasn’t so thin, I can’t hold a braid to dafe my life. LOL Also in love with your outfit as well. Great necklace, perfect statement piece.

Thank you so much, Berty! Have you ever tried clip-in extensions? I’m thinking about trying some out for when I braid my hair to make it fuller!
