Sweater Weather + The Basics That Go With It

Sweater Weather + The Basics That Go With It | Zoë With Love

I’m trying to remember if there was ever a time that I anticipated summer being over and fall weather being in full effect more than right now. I just entered my third trimester of pregnancy and those humid 90+ degree days we were having were rough. With my first baby I wasn’t pregnant at all during the summer months, and what a difference! Let’s just say I really feel for anyone who goes through their entire last leg of pregnancy during the hot summer months, because it gets uncomfortable!

We finally got a break from the heat over the weekend when it cooled off a bit. While that was great, it rained for probably 3 days straight and literally put parts of downtown underwater. I’m just hoping we stay a little cooler now and get to enjoy some more comfortable weather. Bonus that I get to break out the big sweaters and hide under them for awhile. There’s something about a big oversized sweater that eases my anxiety, it’s kind of like the adult version of a security blanket.

Here are some basics to stock up on for sweater weather (besides the sweaters):

Bralettes

I’ve started to go with sportier (not sports bra tight, just a sporty cut) ones like Calvin Klein, this one from Jockey, or the Aerie ones are great. Bonus if you’re pregnant not only are they comfortable during, but they will work great for nursing, too.

Knit Dresses

Just like the one here, (and it’s on sale!) go great with an oversized cardigan. And these casual knit pieces can be dressed down with sneakers or get a little more dressy with boots. If you are looking for maternity knit dresses I just received a couple from Isabella Oliver that I love and will definitely be getting me through fall.

Leggings

Black leggings in the fall, groundbreaking, I know. I’m still in search of the perfect pair of black leggings. People really seem to like the Spanx leggings as well as the maternity version that I have been meaning to try. So far I’ve tried out the Asos line maternity ones which are a great price, but I have found some to be a bit too thin. However, I have gotten the maternity faux leather ones from there which I have really liked.

Booties

It seems like every year without fail I need to replace at least one pair of booties just from wear and tear. I think booties may be one of my favorite shoes to buy though, so I’m not complaining! Steve Madden, Jeffrey Campbell and Sole Society are some of my go to affordable brands to buy from. Last year I treated myself to a pair of Sèzane chelsea boots since they are such a classic, and they have even more great boots that just came out for the season that I am eyeing, too.
