Overalls, Mums and Fall Decorating

overalls and oversized sweater for fall

Here we are less than a week until we’re into October, between acclimating my son to his first year of preschool and wrapping up summer I almost didn’t notice. One of the things I love about living somewhere that experiences all four seasons means changing out clothing wardrobes (goodbye shorts and summer dresses, hello sweaters and boots!) and of course trying out some new pieces as well. It also means that pretty much anywhere that sells plants right is overflowing with chrysanthemums.

I wore these overalls with an oversized cardigan sweater over them. It’s still been pretty warm here lately but these blue corduroy overalls are so fun for fall farm trips especially once it gets cooler out. Plus I kind of plan to live in this sweater because it’s so soft and easy to throw on. These items are both from Modcloth and I have been loving all their items recently. Some of the best things about Modcloth is the range of sizes they carry and there is something for everyone, whether it’s a casual outfit like the one here or dressy like this outfit with the most perfect floral midi skirt.

When I’m decorating my porch for fall, it usually takes me a couple trips to get everything I need. There’s a certain place I’ll buy mums, then a different place for white pumpkins, and another for turquoise pumpkins… I’m not saying this is the most efficient way of doing things but it would be impossible to fit everything in my car in one go. Plus, it’s fun to go on the weekends for the seasonal activities to different locations!

Fall Plant Shopping

mums and kale for planters

I’ve been loving the color of the purple-ish and pink mums and an overall cooler toned fall front porch. White pumpkins are my favorite and last year I really liked decorating with the turquoise colored ones too. I picked up kale plants to put into my front porch planters with the mums and used the red spike plants that were planted alongside my summer flowers. I usually have red fountain grasses in my summer planters that look awesome come fall but I accidently bought the spike this year, so I’m just going with those for now.

I’d still like to decorate the porch a bit more but I love having the fall planters done. I’ve meant to spray paint the tubs that hold plants in the urns to black, but never seem to get around to it. Also, I picked up one of these lanterns (I got a size medium) and an outdoor flameless candle (4 x 8 size) since my old ones rusted out. Note to self, keep these out of the rain… unless you want rusty lanterns and candles. And our skeleton got to make his appearance, too! Scroll down to see more.
