My Trick to Stretching Hair Salon Visits

Around two years ago I had the dreaded realization that the 1 or 2 gray hairs I spotted in my hair had multiplied throughout my roots. For awhile I had left my natural color at my roots then got balayage throughout. Ever since the gray hairs decided to show up, I’ve had to get my natural color applied to my roots and blended down, then the lighter balayage color blended throughout. Now, in order to avoid an obvious line of demarcation, I get a demi-permanent dye applied to my roots to hide the grays, which looks amazing and oh-so-natural but it does fade faster than a typical, permanent color.

I wish I were someone who faithfully visited my hairdresser every 4 weeks for touch ups. Unfortunately, there are things like budget and time (my hair takes 3 hours!) that make that pretty difficult. My trick to stretching salon visits is to apply a hair concealer until you can make that appointment with your hairdresser. The Everpro Gray Away temporary root concealer one helps me buy a couple extra weeks for in between gray fixes. My Trick to Stretching Hair Salon Visits

Here is a before and after of some those annoying little hairs that are scattered through my roots. I shook up the product and sprayed it onto the areas I had grays according to the package directions.

Here are my tips for application: Make sure to apply this before you are wearing makeup but after you’ve heat styled your hair. It does rub off as it’s only a temporary hair concealer, but applying hairspray after helps stop the transfer to skin or clothing quite a bit. The can is aerosol and has a decent amount of pressure, so be sure to move your hand while applying in light swipes. This is also available in a magnetic powder form if you prefer.

Below are some shots during the application process. Initially, I made the mistake of having makeup on when I first applied this; and since I have short gray hairs along my hairline, I also got some on my skin. The good thing is that it wipes off easily and I just reapplied my makeup. This is the perfect solution if you haven’t gotten the chance to get your hair done at the salon in time and have an event scheduled or a date night on your calendar!
