This feather headdress DIY was perfect for my son’s first birthday party (you can see more from Camp Doni here). These would be just as great for music festivals, boho bridal or baby showers, and just for kids dressing up and playing make believe.

The supplies I used and listed here made about 2 dozen of the feather headdresses. You can find the step by step instructions and where to find the supplies below!

Step 1: Cut the leather intro strips lengthwise (along the shorter side) a little bigger than 1 inch, I just used my thumbprint as a guide.

Step 2: Cut these strips in half

Step 3: Measure leather cord around your head and cut it long enough to be able to tie it, you can use this as a guide to cut the rest of the cord in the amount you may need.

Step 4: Cut a strip of the strung feathers. With your glue, attach it to the rough side of your cut strip of leather.

Step 5: Add a tall feather in the center with a dot of hot glue. You’ll probably have to trim the bottom of the feather a bit.

Step 6: With a strip of leather glue, center and lay cord across strip. Place other leather strip (rough side down) on top. Use clothespins to keep leather strips together until glue adheres.
