One Way to Give Experiences this Holiday Season

Family Photo Calendar Gift Idea

Giving experiences rather than “stuff”… This idea been on my mind this year when it comes to Christmas. My son has taken up quite the interest in cooking and helping in the kitchen lately. It’s funny because he is such a picky eater, but I think letting him help out in an interactive environment has been a good way of introducing him to more foods. I wanted to make a photo family calendar with lots of our memories from this year and include some sort of experience that would be for us to have together monthly. With how much he’s been wanting to help cook meals, I thought a kid friendly recipe to make together each month would be perfect. When I saw the coloring book inspired photo calendar from Snapfish it fit the “kid” theme since we can even color the pages together! (You can find the exact calendar here and use code ZOE40 for 40% off!)

We kicked it off early this month and made classic chocolate chip cookies! The recipes in the coloring/cookbook calendar range from winter inspired cinnamon-sugar tortilla snowflakes, to summery strawberry/watermelon popsicles, to fall apple pie roll-up bites. I made sure to pick things that were easy for him to help make, were somewhat seasonal and most importantly, fun! Since one of the most valuable things we can give our kids is our time, this makes a great gift for someone with a little one (or for your own kiddos) who’s interested in helping in the kitchen. I’m including links to all the recipes I picked for each month below so you can make one of these calendars too!

When I was making the calendar, I went through my phone and computer folders to sort my favorite photos from this past year and match them as close as I could to their correlating months. Snapfish makes it so convenient because you can upload directly from Instagram and Facebook! Plus, I love that you have the option to use additional photos in the calendar to mark special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries and holidays. I think I can speak for most of us when I say I have more photos than I know what to do with and this is one great way to use them!
